The Goppelt family
This robot is probably the most exciting thing that has happened on our street for a while!
My family lives on a small family farm in Louisiana and have generally mowed our good-sized lawn with a riding lawnmower. But recently the riding lawnmower has had many problems which, it appeared, would cost a large sum of money to repair.
We have known about the Robomower for several years, but did not get one because our riding lawnmower was doing the job fine. But in March of 2006, with the emergence of our riding mower’s problems, I began doing some research about buying a mower from Friendly Robotics. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the power costs were very low compared to today’s expensive prices to fill up a gas mower. The mower would be able to mow a significant portion of the lawn, reducing the amount of time it takes to mow in the summer.
After much discussion and thought, Dad and I decided to give it a try. There were three reasons that we purchased the mower: it would be a wonderful educational project for the family, it would cost much less to power, and it would save precious time. I paid a percentage of the cost and promised to do the setup work.
We bought our Robomower from RoboDirect, Inc. In retrospect, I am very glad we did this. The friendly folks there gave us free support, which we utilized several times, and even helped us get some free used stakes and wire.
Two of the three zones we plan to have is finished, with the other well on track. I know I will appreciate the extra free time to do things that I have not had time to do (we all have those things). Besides that, this robot is probably the most exciting thing that has happened on our street for a while!

We were amazed by the advantages it has to offer, silent efficient cutting, not having to worry if the grass isn't bone dry, coping well with quite a slope, bouncing off tree trunks and above all my being able to press on with other jobs.

Being a real traditional old gardener when my husband appeared with a robot grasscutter my immediate reaction was, "That thing won't work". "Give it a chance" ,he replied. A little voice in my head went "If it does work, one less job for you". For once I remained silent.
We were amazed by the advantages it has to offer, silent efficient cutting, not having to worry if the grass isn't bone dry, coping well with quite a slope, bouncing off tree trunks and above all my being able to press on with other jobs.
A cup of tea in the garden on a sunny day while someone else does the work is most satisfying!

My doctor says, "I need less stress in my life and avoid becoming overheated". I believe the RL500 Robotic Lawn Mower has solved both problems.

My doctor says, "I need less stress in my life and avoid becoming overheated". I believe the RL500 Robotic Lawn Mower has solved both problems. The 21st Century is here and Friendly Robotics, Inc. has the lawn mower for the busy man of the century. For the first time in my life, I pray for the grass to grow so I can watch RL500 do it's thing.
I love the safety features most, the removable battery pack, the quick release blades, the quick height adjustment, the wild audio sounds and the fact that I'm the only guy on the block that has one.
You've got to see it in action to believe it.

It didn't take long before the bees got used to the Robomow...
Take is a beekeeper. He has some 50 beehives which represents several millions of bees.
For Take this is a leisure activity. He produces honey and sells it to passers-by. Take used to have a problem with the lawn adjacent to the beehives because the bees got very aggressive when he tried to use a regular lawn mower. So he used a hand scythe.
Several months ago Take bought a Robomow and installed it all by himself!
"It didn't take long before the bees got used to the Robomow" says Take.
"Now sometimes there are bees that land and take a free ride on the Robomow".
In one of the pictures you can see a small stray bee swarm. There is always a queen-bee in such a swarm. On other pictures you can see the queen-bee which you can recognize because she has a larger body. These are rather rare shots.

The RL500 has been in regular and trouble-free use during the last two mowing seasons. During that time it has met all the claims made for it and is a joy to use. It is a masterpeice of effective design and I can thoroughly recommend it to anyone with a moderately-sized lawn. One of the best garden aids currently on the UK market.

They are quiet, never talk back and allow me not to sweat as much!
I have enjoyed the Robomow units since April. They are quiet and never talk back. They also allow me not to sweat as much in June, July, & August when it is 100 and above here in Texas. The new RL 500 is even better because you can change out the battery with an extra one and get over 4 hours of mowing. This is great for me because I have a large yard. I have 419 Tiff Bermuda lawn and the new RL 500 allows me to cut much lower and performs like my Reel Mower, much to my surprise. I live on a golf course and these units cause a lot of curiosity with the Greenskeeper and his workers who mow everyday. They are quite the conversation pieces.
I am very happy with them and I highly recommend them to my friends and relatives.

Buy one - it will be the best investment you ever make!

I bought my RL500 mower in November 1999. Both my wife an I agree that it is one of the best purchases we have ever made in our 20 years of married life. I have had chronic fatigue syndrome for many years and so mowing the lawn was impossible for me. The RL500 has made life so much easier for me and I would recommend it for absolutely anyone. The bonus of not needing to take grass clippings to the dump makes it a winner. Buy one - it will be the best investment you ever make!

All hail to "Oscar"!
Having had our Robomow for almost two years now we would be lost without it. Our grass always looks good and with very little effort on my part.
This is the name we gave to the Robomow RL500 which we were fortunate enough to be given to test under the 'Free Time Trials' scheme and which we purchased when the scheme was discontinued.
Our garden is only a small one, in fact we were surprised when given the opportunity to take part in the trials scheme. We thought that the company would be more interested in properties with much larger gardens than ours.
The areas of the grass in both our front and rear gardens are somewhat irregular and in some places sloping so that we thought that dear old "Oscar" wouldn't be able to cope, but surprise! Surprise! he did and apparently with little difficulty - a helping hand, now and then, when the grass was damp was all the help he needed.
Having had our Robomow for almost two years now we would be lost without it. Our grass always looks good and with very little effort on my part - (my wife tidies up the edge with a strimmer where necessary).
It is most satisfying and intriguing to sit and watch "Oscar" at work whilst enjoying a drink on the patio, or getting on with the many other jobs that need attention.

RL500 is not just a luxury, its a necessity for the disabled.
RL500 is not just a luxury, it's a necessity for the disabled. It not only gives us the freedom to care for our lawns, (avoiding the high cost of paying for a service), but it also takes away the guilt of having to add yet another burden to our care-givers.
The comical sounds and the way the RL500 mowes makes it fun to watch. The installation was easy enough for a wheelchair bound person to do myself.
The absolute best part, however, is the Friendly Robotic Employees who not only listen to their customers opinions with very friendly attitudes, but all have always gone above and beyond the call of duty. It is so nice to deal with a company who can be trusted to do what it claims.
I am looking forward to future products from this company.
Thanks for a Great Product!

... it does a great job, it mows in a pattern that makes sure it mows every nook and cranny! What I really like best about this product it to watch it!!
I saw a person using it in there lawn and pulled up along side there house and watch it for 2 hours!! (I had some explaining to do when the owner came out and saw me there!!) so I decided to buy one, now if I see some kids coming up the street with lawn mowers, I hurry and get my robomower out and start it before they come so they don't ask to mow my lawn! but I ALWAYS watch my little brother mow the lawn (yes, now I refer to my robomower as my brother!!) but he is SO much fun to watch!! and if your tired of vacuuming, get the Roomba Discovery from iRobot!! The RoboMow means that I no longer spend my time trying to maintain the garden at a set level, any work I do now is improvement...

I have 2 robomows, an RL1000 and an RL800. I used to cut my 1 1/2 acre lawns with a top of the range 32" Hayter ride on. Now I only use the ride on as an expensive leaf collector in the autumn. The RoboMow means that I no longer spend my time trying to maintain the garden at a set level, any work I do now is improvement. My advise....Buy one, set it up properly and then chuckle to yourself as it does the work for you. Push mowing and ride on's are dead.. Long live RoboMow!!

This amazing lawnmower is a Robot that works on its own to cut your lawn while you do something more interesting. It is battery powered and instead of collecting the grass it mulches it into a fine dust that disappears into, and nourishes your lawn. Firstly you have to peg down a wire around the edge of your lawn and connect it to a small battery powered transmitter. The Robot navigates itself within the wire to cut your lawn- and flat edges. The wire stays permanently in the ground so from then on all you have to do is place the robot on the lawn and let it do it's own thing! The wire is simple to set up and the machine has a host of safety features and adjustments. This mower is not for use on slopes and rough grass but is ideal for a flat and fairly large well kept lawn. I have used this mower for 3 seasons and am totally impressed by it's capabilities and reliability.

I love to mow when I am not home.
I bought a new house and saw that everyone else in the neighborhood had a riding lawnmower. Having a small yard with not much to mow, in the past, I was not looking forward to spending at least 2 hours a week sitting on my [back] driving around in circles. I started looking for "high speed" riding movers but the cost was astronomical.
Things that impressed me: There are no "clumps" of grass even when it was mowing during the rain storm. It mows in the rain. :-) It even pulled itself out of a little mud puddle that had formed once it realized it had no more traction in that direction. The speed at which the blades come to a complete stop (< 1 second) if it runs into something while you are manually mowing or you pick up the front.
Negative comments: If you like pretty "lines" in your lawn, this mower is not for you. All your friends and neighbors will ask you questions and/or make fun of you. I suggest you tell them what I tell them, "You do not manually wash your clothes. You probably do not hand wash all of your dishes. Why would you WANT to mow your lawn?" (Amazon)

Can't Recommend It Enough... I use it about twice a week or as necessary and it does a GREAT job.

I purchased the RL-500 three years ago. I am soooo happy with it and can only imagine that the newer models are even better. As far as battery life, it mows for about 3-4 hours on one charge and can cut most of our 3/4 acre yard in one afternoon. I use it about twice a week or as necessary and it does a GREAT job. I highly recommend the rapid charger though if you have a large yard. It takes a full 24 hours to charge without it. (Cars actually stop and back up to watch it, it's too fun!) (Amazon)

Summer is much too hot and I'm too tired to push a walk-behind lawnmower. My wife, Ruti, operates the Robotic Mower twice a week. While the Robotic Mower mows our lawn, we are free to complete other chores or enjoy the free time. We are very satisfied with the results! It is one genius invention! It works even better than I expected. Other lawnmowers tore the grass, the RL500 cuts it accurately and the lawn looks perfect! It is so smart that it tells you if anything is wrong by displaying messages. There are audio sounds and even texts that help the user to diagnose the problem. If service is required, do not worry! The technical professional personnel is always ready to give you prompt solutions. Our neighbors love it too!

The blades of the RL500 accurately cut the grass and the mulching is perfect

Thanks to the RL500 Robotic Mower, I have a lot more free time!
The RL500 replaced my old lawnmower, I gave up on the ride-on and now I operate my Robotic Mower once in 2 days.
I chose to buy the Robotic Mower, because of its mulching system. The blades of the RL500 accurately cut the grass and the mulching is perfect. There is no need to collect the clippings.
My kids call it 'blender' because of the cutting blades' shape. The service is fabulous and friendly indeed!

One of the BEST Investments I Ever Made!
I have it set to take off about 1/3 of the grass with each weekly cut and our Bermuda has never looked better. It truly is a "sea of green" once Robomower is finished and the blades have been clipped from every direction. It looks as good or better than the $150/visit professional landscaping crew does across the street. We have four 20" x 20" recessed drainage holes throughout the yard that can be a problem. Most of the time Robomower goes down and comes back out OK...Sometimes it just sits and spins the wheels trying to climb out. Hence, the supervision part of the job. Keeping an eye on Robomower and intervening when needed is still much better than the old blood and sweat that I see falling off the neighbors when they go out and cut their grass the old-fashioned way. Next to the PC and HDTV, Robomower gets my vote for best "life made easier" invention of the past 20 years. It's not perfect , but neither are you when you cut the grass. It's just much more convenient watching the grass be cut by Robomower. Understand it's limitations, plan your yard zones like you want it to operate and you should be equally pleased with the results, provided you don't get the inevitable lemon. I have extra tires and extra blades, but haven't needed to replace them after 3 seasons of weekly mowings. Great product! (Amazon)
