Robomow® winter charging and storage instructions

    RM510 - Winter Storage

    Robomow®
    Remove the battery fuse and clean the Robomow. Store Robomow indoors in a clean a dry place, standing on its wheels; confirm the area around the bumper is free.
    Insert the battery fuse and connect the winter charger to the mains supply for the entire period in which Robomow® will not be operating; confirm 'Charging' is displayed and 'Ready – keep charging' when the battery is fully charged.

    Winter charging

    The charging system and battery are designed such that they can remain plugged in at all times of non-use without concern to over charging, over heating or damaging the battery

    Base Station / Perimeter Switch
    It is recommended to remove the Base Station for the winter period:

      • Disconnect the power supply from the mains power;
      • Open the Base Station / Perimeter Switch cover;
      • Disconnect all connectors from the board;
      • Remove the Base Station / Perimeter Switch and place it in dry storage;
      • It is recommended to store the power supply in a dry storage; if not possible, protect the cable end from moisture to prevent corrosion while not connected to the Base Station.
      • Disconnect the green plot connector (keep it connected on the board for the next season) from the perimeter wire ends and protect it from moisture to prevent corrosion of the wires while not connected to the Base Station; You may place the Friendly Robotics wire nut connector onto both wire ends for protection in the winter.

    After Winter Storage

      • Confirm that all connections, charging pins and wire ends are clean prior the first operation; if required, clean the contacts with a small piece of fine sandpaper, 200 grit or higher or using steel wool of '00' or higher grade.
      • Place the Base Station in its place and connect all cables to the board;
      • Confirm that Robomow displays the correct time and date.

    RL555/855/RL550/850 - Winter Storage

    Power Pack
    Fully charge the Power Pack till 'Ready keep charging' is displayed and store it separately from Robomow off the ground i.e. on a wooden shelf in a dry location and a cool place not colder than -4°F (-20°C). A fully charged Power Pack may be stored for up to 3 months before recharging it, if stored in a cool, dry place. Charge the Power Pack before using the Robomow for the first time of the season.

    Robomow
    Remove the Power Pack and clean Robomow. Store Robomow in a clean and dry place and cover it to keep it clean and protected. Confirm it is standing on its wheels and the area around the bumpers is free.
    Important! Do not store Robomow on its bumpers or with anything pressing on the bumpers.
    Check the condition of the blades; if necessary, replace the blades.

    Perimeter Switch
    Disconnect the Perimeter Switch, remove the batteries and to store it in a dry place.

    RL2000/RL1000 - Winter Storage

    Power Pack
    Fully charge the Power Pack till ‘Ready keep charging’ is displayed and store it separately from Robomow off the ground i.e. on a wooden shelf in a dry location and a cool place not colder than -4ºF (-20 ºC). A fully charged Power Pack may be stored for up to 3 months before recharging it, if stored in a cool, dry place. Charge the Power Pack before using the Robomow for the first time of the season.

    Robomow
    Remove the Power Pack and clean the Robomow.

    Charging Station

      • It is recommended that the Charging Station be removed for the winter:
      • Disconnect the power supply from the power receptacle.
      • Unscrew the two screws holding the Charging Station Cover.
      • Disconnect the green plot connector (between the perimeter wire and the Charging board).
      • Disconnect the green plot connector and place a water proofed wire connector over the two free perimeter wire ends to prevent corrosion of the wires while not connected to the station.
      • Remove the Charging Station base and place it in dry storage.
      • Place all parts in a dry storage.
      • If it is not practical to remove the power cord, then first disconnect the power supply from the power receptacle, then disconnect the power leads attached to the Charging board. After disconnecting the power supply leads, each end of these two leads must be protected for the winter to prevent oxidation. You may place the Friendly Robotics wire nut connector onto each end of this cord for protection in the winter. If this or a similar weather resistant connector is not used, oxidation may occur. Do not forget to disconnect the perimeter wire ends from the plot connector and protect the ends of these wires in a similar way as the power supply leads.
      • Prior to the beginning of each new mowing season, lightly polish the charge contacts on the Robomow and the Charging Station with a small piece of fine sandpaper, 200 grit or higher or using steel wool of ‘00’ or higher grade. This will remove any oxidation that may have occurred and allow optimal contact. See Figure below.
      • Before the first operation of the next season, it is required to reconnect the setup of the Charging Station

    Lightly polish these contacts at the beginning of each season, or more often as needed. Lightly polish the area indicated on these contacts at the beginning of each season, or more often as needed.
